CORAL GABLES, Fla.Jumping 31 spots in the Oracle/ITA singles rankings, University of Miami men’s tennis junior Adria Soriano Barrera sits at No. 32 nationally, as announced Wednesday afternoon.

Adding 7.813 points to his average since the final fall rankings released on Nov. 13, Soriano Barrera ranks second among ACC individuals and achieved the fifth-largest leap among current top-50 individuals.

The Barcelona, Spain, native has opened the spring with a 5-2 singles mark, including triumphs over No. 28 Trent Bryde of Georgia and No. 49 Ewan Moore of Tulane.

In addition, the junior has teamed up with sophomore Francisco Bastias throughout the spring season as the duo entered the doubles rankings for the first time at No. 46. Overall, the duo is 6-3 in spring competition and topped No. 16 Blake Croyder and Phillip Henning of Georgia to open the year.

Once again earning a spot among the top-15 doubles pairs, sophomore Franco Aubone and junior Benjamin Hannestad form the nation’s 14th-ranked duo. Since the start of fall competition they boast a 17-5 record and a 4-3 mark against current ranked doubles partners.

As a team, the Hurricanes are set to return home on Friday to host South Alabama at 11 a.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center, before welcoming Florida Atlantic to their home court on Sunday at noon.
