Men’s Tennis Set to Battle No. 23 Mississippi State on Sunday
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team travels to Fort Meyers, Fla., for a neutral site affair on Super Bowl Sunday against No. 23 Mississippi State at 10 a.m. at the FGCU Tennis Complex.

Friday’s meeting with Mississippi State will mark the 14th in program history, with the Bulldogs maintaining an 8-5 edge in the all-time series.
The Hurricanes, led by fourth-year head coach Aljosa Piric, feature the nation’s ninth-ranked doubles pair in sophomore Franco Aubone and junior Benjamin Hannestad, while junior Adria Soriano Barrera ranks No. 63 in the ITA/Oracle singles rankings. Collectively, Miami has kicked off the 2020 campaign with a 4-1 record, for the second straight season, which last season was the program’s best start since opening the 2008 season with an equivalent mark.
The Bulldogs enter Sunday’s match with a 5-2 overall record, most recently topping then-No. 22 Oklahoma in the second round of ITA Kickoff Weekend. Overall, MSU went 1-1 over the weekend, dropping the opening day tilt with then-No. 19 Georgia, 4-1. MSU boasts a pair of ranked singles players in No. 15 Giovanni Oradini and No. 101 Davide Tortora.
Following Sunday’s match, the Canes will return home to host South Alabama on Feb. 7 at 11 a.m., before welcoming Florida Atlantic to the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on Feb. 9 at noon.
