Aubone and Hannestad Cap the Fall Ranked Ninth
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – For the first time in over a decade a pair of University of Miami men’s tennis student-athletes rank among the top-10 in the Oracle/ITA National Doubles Rankings.
Following a stellar fall campaign, capped with a semifinal appearance at the prestigious ITA National Fall Championships, junior Benjamin Hannestad and sophomore Franco Aubone not only entered the final national poll of the fall for the first time, but vaulted all the way up to ninth.
It marks the first time a Miami doubles pair ranks among the nation’s top-10, since All-Americans Carl Sundberg and Daniel Vallverdu opened the 2008-09 campaign as the top-ranked tandem in the nation’s preseason poll (Sep. 4, 2008).
Overall, Hannestad and Aubone went 13-3 as partners during the 2019 fall season, securing the ITA Southeast Regional doubles title on Oct. 27, 2019.
Joining the duo in the national rankings, junior Adria Soriano Barrera caps the fall ranked No. 63 in the national singles poll.
