Aubone and Hannestad Set for ITA Fall National Championships

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Franco Aubone and Benjamin Hannestad of the University of Miami men’s tennis team will conclude fall competition this weekend in Newport Beach, Calif.
 
The duo is set to team up in the prestigious Oracle ITA Fall National Championships at the Tennis Club at Newport Beach Country Club. Seeded sixth, the tandem will square off against Denver’s James Davis and Matt Summers at 8 p.m. ET.
 
“We’re excited to come out to Newport Beach to compete with the best of the best in college tennis. Benjamin and Franco have been practicing very well and I’m looking forward to their first round match [on Wednesday].”
 
Aubone, a sophomore for the Canes, is set to participate in his first National tournament, while Hannestad, a junior transfer from Arizona State, is set to make his second appearance, first competing in both doubles and singles at the Fall National Championships in Palm Desert, Calif., in 2017.
 
With an 11-2 doubles mark this fall, the pair cruised through the ITA Southeast Regional Championships, locking up their spot in Wednesday’s opener.
