Yaroshuk-Tews Releases Fall W. Tennis Slate

CORAL GABLES, Fla. University of Miami head women’s tennis coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews announced Thursday the team’s schedule for the upcoming fall season.

The Hurricanes will compete in nine collegiate tournaments, including beginning play with the Miami Fall Invite on their home courts at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center Sept. 20-22.

“We’re really excited to see these ladies back in action,” Yaroshuk-Tews said. “Six [of our seven players] have been working all second summer session, so I’m hoping that work pays off and gets them a great start to their season.”

The same weekend the Hurricanes host the Miami Fall Invite, select members of the team will head to River Hills, Wis., for the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, set for Sept. 20-23. Former Miami star Sinead Lohan, a two-time ITA All-American, won the tournament in 2017.

The following weekend, the team will again be split between a local event and an out-of-state tournament. Some players will head to Orlando, Fla., for the USTA Fall Ranked Spotlight, while others trip to Williamsburg, Va., for the ITA Hall of Fame Classic, both of which run Sept. 27-29.

To begin the second month of competition, Miami heads west to Fort Myers, Fla., where it will take part in the Bedford Cup Oct. 4-6. Sophomore Lucia Marzal won the event last year when it was held in Coral Gables.

Up next for those Hurricanes who make the cut is a trip to Tulsa, Okla., for the ITA Women’s All-American Champions, which runs Oct. 5-13. From there, Miami heads to Tallahassee, Fla., for the ITA Southeast Regional Championships, held Oct. 18-21.

The Hurricanes open the last month of action with a visit to Austin, Texas, Nov. 1-3 for the Texas Invite. Miami wraps up the fall campaign Nov. 6-10 in Newport Beach, Calif., where selected players will take part in the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.

In addition to those collegiate events, Miami will also have select players compete as amateurs in several ITF tournaments throughout the fall.
