Miami Takes on Clemson at ACC Championship
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Securing the program’s highest seed since 2011, the University of Miami men’s tennis team will open ACC Championship competition Thursday morning.
Fifth-seeded Miami (16-9, 7-5 ACC) will battle No. 12-seed Clemson at 9 a.m. at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. Live stats for the matchup between No. 29 Miami and Clemson will be available HERE.
In a series that dates back to 1968, Clemson holds a 29-26 advantage over Miami. However, in the most recent matchup the Hurricanes posted a 7-0 victory at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on Feb. 24, 2019.
Entering the tournament, a pair of sophomores represent Miami in the ITA national singles rankings, as Adria Soriano Barrera comes in at No. 42 and Bojan Jankulovski at No. 81.
The Hurricanes are 9-14 all-time at the ACC Championship and 1-2 under the direction of third-year head coach Aljosa Piric.
Clemson (10-16, 2-10 ACC) advanced out of the opening round Wednesday morning with a hard fought 4-2 triumph over Boston College. The Tigers are represented in the national singles rankings by No. 92 Simon Baudry.
The winner of Thursday’s match moves on to the ACC Championship quarterfinals to take on fourth-seeded and No. 20 NC State Friday at 9 a.m.
