Hurricanes Hit the Road against Duke
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team travels to Durham, N.C., Friday to open a three-match conference road trip against Duke.
No. 23 Miami (14-4, 5-0 ACC) and Duke will hit the Ambler Tennis Stadium at 5 p.m. with live stats being made accessible HERE.
Friday’s match will mark the 48th meeting between the Canes and Blue Devils, with Duke holding a slight edge in the series, 24-23. In the most recent contest, then-No. 48 Miami snapped a nine-match losing streak against the Blue Devils, topping then-No. 22 Duke, 4-3, at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on April 20, 2018. In the affair, redshirt junior Dane Dunlap and sophomore Adria Soriano Barrera picked up a pair of singles victories to put the Canes in front 3-1, before sophomore Bojan Jankulovski clinched the victory with a 6-4, 6-4 win against Nick Stachowiak.
This season, the Hurricanes enter the match looking to extend their current six-match winning streak, which included a thrilling 4-3 victory over then-No. 11 Notre Dame. Overall, with a perfect 5-0 mark, Miami is off to the best conference start in program history since joining the ACC prior to the 2004-05 season.
The Canes are led by a pair of sophomores featured on the Oracle/ITA national singles list, with Adria Soriano Barrera coming in at No. 27 and Jankulovski ranked No. 81.
The Blue Devils own a 7-9 overall record and 1-4 conference record, most recently dropping a road match against Georgia Tech, 4-3, on Sunday, March 17. Individually, Duke has one ranked singles players, with Nick Stachowiak sitting at No. 75.
Following Friday’s match, Miami will make a trip to Chapel Hill, N.C., to face No. 11 North Carolina Sunday at 1 p.m.
