CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team is set to open league competition Saturday afternoon with an in-state showdown.
No. 15 Miami (6-1) will meet No. 20 Florida State at noon at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center in Tallahassee, Fla. Live video for the matchup can be found HERE and live stats will be available HERE.

Miami owns a 35-6 all-time record in its series with the Seminoles, which dates back to 1977. The Hurricanes, who have won three in a row, seven of eight and 12 of 14, sport an 8-3 mark in Tallahassee. Most recently, the Hurricanes notched a 5-2 decision March 9, 2018 in Orlando, Fla.
Entering the weekend, Miami has one player in the ITA national singles rankings, as Estela Perez-Somarriba places fourth to lead all ACC players and all juniors. In doubles, junior Yuna Ito and sophomore Ulyana Shirokova come in at No. 33 nationally.
The Seminoles, currently 6-1 on the year, have a trio of ranked singles players, with Carla Touly at No. 49, Ana Oparenovic at No. 103 and Emmanuelle Salas at No. 110. Florida State does not have any ranked doubles duos.
Following its matchup with Florida State, Miami returns home to host fourth-ranked Duke Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
