W. Tennis Moves to No. 15 in ITA Rankings
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team ascended two spots in this week’s Oracle/ITA team rankings and took over the No. 15 position nationally, as announced Wednesday afternoon.
Miami (6-1) is 2-0 since the last team rankings came out on Jan. 30, earning a pair of home victories over Big 12 foes. The Hurricanes defeated Baylor, 5-2, Feb. 1 and posted a 4-0 shutout win over Texas Tech, then No. 20 and now No. 22, eight days later.
The Hurricanes are once again the highest-ranked of four Sunshine State schools in the top 25, leading No. 20 Florida State, No. 21 UCF and No. 24 Florida.
Miami’s No. 15 ranking matches its highest mark over the past two seasons, equaling its spot in the April 24, 2018 release.
The Hurricanes are the third of seven ACC teams in the top 20, alongside second-ranked North Carolina, fourth-ranked Duke, No. 17 NC State, No. 18 Virginia, No. 19 Syracuse and No. 20 Florida State.
Miami is back in action Saturday at noon in Tallahassee, Fla., where it meets aforementioned No. 20 Florida State to begin ACC competition.
