In the Pool With Katie Sickinger
“In The Pool” is a series highlighting the University of Miami swimming & diving student-athletes. Next up is one of Miami’s senior tri-captains, Katie Sickinger…
My hometown is Oakwood Ohio. It’s super cute, homey and very small.
The best part of Miami is my team and my teammates.
ACC Championships are what we are always working for, at the end of the day.
My goal this season is to not get too stressed out and really just enjoy every moment of it. It is my last one, so I have to make it count.
My team is amazing and diverse, and the most fun I have ever had.
My senior year will be bittersweet. I am determined to make it the best yet, but I will be sad when it ends.
At my ideal dinner party, all my friends and family would be there. I don’t care about famous people, I would rather spend time with people I love. Oh, and we are not eating fancy food, we are eating something fun – followed by brownies.
I’ll never forget my four years at Miami. I will never forget everyone I have gotten to know on the team. We will always be sisters.
I secretly wish that I was really good at singing.
People would be surprised to know that I spent three weeks teaching dance and physics to Vietnamese school children.
I was raised to be tough and to never give up.
The U – once a cane, always a cane. It’s all about the U, forever.
My walkout song would be September by Earth, Wind, and Fire. It is just happy and carefree, and everybody would sing along.
