Perez-Somarriba Set for Oracle ITA National Fall Championships

CORAL GABLES, Fla. Estela Perez-Somarriba will cap the University of Miami women’s tennis team’s 2018 fall slate this week at one of the most illustrious tournaments of the year.

The junior will compete at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, held Wednesday through Sunday at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.

The singles draw features 64 of the nation’s top players in the lone event of the year that features players from all five levels (DI, DII, DIII, NAIA and JUCO).

Perez-Somarriba, the third-ranked player in the country, is seeded second in the singles main draw. She is set to face William & Mary’s Natalia Perry at noon ET in the opening round of action.

The Madrid native is 10-1 this spring, claiming the championship at the Oracle ITA Masters and the back draw crown at the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships.

Sunday’s tournament final in the Grand Canyon State will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and then re-aired on ESPNU two days later, Nov. 13, at 5 p.m. ET. The victor will receive a main draw wild card berth to a 2019 Oracle Challenger Series event.
