Men's Tennis Set to Compete in the ITA Southeast Regionals

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team will take part in the ITA Southeast Regional Championships Presented by Oracle.
 
All 10 hurricanes will represent Miami at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex, with action set to get underway on Friday at 9 a.m., with two qualifying singles rounds.
 
The Canes will compete alongside UCF, Florida, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, FGCU, Florida State, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Mercer, North Florida, USF, Stetson and the host school, Georgia.
 
A quintet of Hurricanes will open play Friday morning, with junior Stephen Madonia, sophomores William Grattan Smith, Pablo Aycart Joya and Tatsuki Shimamoto and freshman Franco Aubone competing in qualifiers.
 
Redshirt junior Dane Dunlap, sophomores Adria Soriano Barrera and Bojan Jankulovski and freshmen Francisco Bastias and Kaya Gore have earned automatic bids into the Main Draw event set to kick off Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
 
In doubles action, Miami will form five teams, with action set to open on Saturday, immediately after singles competition.
 
Play will resume each morning, with the finals of each draw–main singles, main doubles, consolation singles and consolation doubles–the only contest scheduled for Tuesday.
 
The two regional finalists will earn an automatic bid into the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, held Nov. 7-11 in Surprise, Ariz.

Tournament Format Notes…
– No-ad scoring in both singles and doubles
– In doubles competition, matches prior to the semifinals will consist of an 8-game pro set (tiebreaker at 7-all), with the semifinals and finals doubles matches consisting of two out of three sets to 6, with a match tiebreak in lieu of the third set.
