Five Canes Set to Begin Season at Miami Fall Invite

CORAL GABLES, Fla. The yearly Miami Fall Invite is set to take place Friday through Sunday at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

The tournament will serve as the first action of the 2018-19 campaign for junior Yuna Ito, senior Ana Madcur, freshman Lucia Marzal Martinez, senior Daniella Roldan and sophomore Ulyana Shirokova. For Ito and Marzal Martinez, the event will mark their Miami debuts.

The Hurricanes are hosting players from four teams in the event: Florida, Ole Miss, Michigan and Pittsburgh. The Gators, Rebels and Wolverines finished No. 11, eighth and No. 21, respectively, in 2018.

Thirty-two players will compete across two singles flights and two doubles flights. There are seven individuals each from Michigan, Ole Miss and Pittsburgh, as well as six from Florida and five from Miami.

Action is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on both Friday and Sunday, with an 8 a.m. start time on Saturday. Doubles will go first each day, with singles starting no earlier than 10 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., respectively.

The tournament features eight ranked singles players in No. 53 Sabina Machalova (Ole Miss), No. 61 Chiara Lommer (Michigan), No. 62 McCartney Kessler (Florida), No. 65 Ida Jarlskog (Florida), No. 68 Tsveta Dmitrova (Florida), No. 92 Tea Jandric (Ole Miss), No. 119 Brienne Minor (Michigan) and No. 122 Anna Vrbenska (Ole Miss).

There are also four ranked doubles pairs competing in No. 38 Dmitrova/Victoria Emma (Florida), No. 48 Camila Moreno/Natsumi Okamto (Pittsburgh), No. 49 Jandric/Machalova (Ole Miss) and No. 57 Jarlskog/Kessler (Florida).

The University of Miami – Coral Gables Campus has introduced an updated parking policy for the 2018-19 school year. Enforcement is now extended to seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. PayByPhone pay stations are available across all campus parking lots and garages to facilitate visitor parking.
