Perez-Somarriba Opens Fall at Oracle ITA Masters
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Estela Perez-Somarriba of the University of Miami women’s tennis team will begin her fall campaign Thursday at the prestigious Oracle ITA Masters.
When the junior opens play at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif., it will mark the first action of the fall for anyone on the Miami roster, as the Duke Bonk Invitational last weekend was canceled due to Hurricane Florence.
Perez-Somarriba is set to take the court at 11 a.m. ET for the opening round of mixed doubles play, competing alongside Virginia Tech’s Mitch Harper as the fifth-seeded pair in the draw.
The pair will take on Northern Kentucky’s Margita Sunjic and Cleveland State’s Nico Mostardi. The winning team will play again at 8 p.m. ET in the Round of 16.
After her mixed doubles match, third-ranked and fourth-seeded Perez-Somarriba starts singles competition at 12:15 p.m. ET against Dominique Vasile of Quinnipiac.
