Hurricanes Set to Open Fall Season in Tuscaloosa
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team will begin its 2018-19 campaign this weekend at the Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall Championships held at the University of Alabama Tennis Center and Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Four Hurricanes will be making the trip to Alabama this weekend, including redshirt-junior Dane Dunlap, sophomores William Grattan-Smith and Tatsuki Shimamoto and freshman Franco Aubone.
Last season, Dunlap combined to go 21-9 during doubles action and 17-16 in singles. The redshirt-junior will open up play in the Crimson Singles Draw at 11 a.m. ET, against Tulane’s Tim Ruetzel.
Simultaneously, Aubone will square off with Princeton’s Damian Rodriguez in the round of 16.
Shimamoto and Grattan-Smith will open the fall season in the Houdstooth bracket, with Shimamoto facing Alabama’s Riccardo Roberto and Grattan-Smith battling Oscar Cutting of Memphis in the round of 16.
In his first year at UM, Shimamoto combined to tally 11 singles wins and eight doubles victories, playing mostly No. 6 singles in the spring.
Beginning his collegiate campaign at Nebraska, Grattan-Smith enters his sophomore season at Miami after finishing the dual season as a Husker 8-12.
The event will begin on Friday at 9 a.m. with one round of doubles play, followed by two rounds of singles matches at 10 a.m. On Saturday, two rounds of doubles matches will be played at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. with singles being played at 12:30 p.m. The final day of the event will be on Sunday with the last round of singles competition starting at 9 a.m.
During the three-day event, Miami will battle highly-competitive opponents in Alabama, Memphis, Oklahoma, Princeton, Rice, Tulane and Tennessee.
