Tullis-Joyce Selected for U-23 USWNT Camp

CORAL GABLES, Fla. For the second time in three months, a member of the University of Miami soccer team is headed to U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team camp.

Rising redshirt senior goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce has been called in to participate in the camp at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, Calif., from May 11-18.

She follows rising junior midfielder Kristina Fisher, who competed in Portland in March, her fifth U.S. Soccer youth camp in the span of a year.

This camp will overlap with a U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team training camp and the two sides will scrimmage twice, the first May 14 at 10 p.m. ET and the second May 17 at 7 p.m. ET.

“We’re excited for Phallon to compete with the U-23 National Team,” Miami head coach Sarah Barnes said. “She has worked incredibly hard and devoted herself to improving her play for an opportunity at this level.”

A native of Shoreham, N.Y., Tullis-Joyce has played in 44 matches as a Hurricane over the past three years, starting 36 of them, including all 35 of Miami’s outings the past two years. She sports a 1.18 goals against average and set a program record with a 0.84 mark in 2016.

Tullis-Joyce, who finished second in the ACC in 2017 with 5.25 saves per game, ranks top-five all-time at Miami in shutouts (11), wins (18) and minutes played (3,881). She has two of the top four single-season total goals against marks by a Hurricane, placing first in 2016 (16) and fourth in 2017 (22).

This is the first time Tullis-Joyce, a two-time All-ACC Academic Team honoree, will take part in a U.S. Soccer youth camp.
