W. Tennis Heavily Featured in Oracle/ITA Rankings
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team continues to be well-represented in the Oracle/ITA national rankings.
As a team, Miami (16-7, 11-3 ACC) checks in at No. 16 in the country, matching its overall seed in the NCAA Team Championship.
The Hurricanes are one of six ACC teams in the top 25, along with top-ranked North Carolina, third-ranked Duke, fourth-ranked Georgia Tech, No. 21 Florida State and No. 23 Virginia. The ACC has two more schools in the top 30 (No. 27 Syracuse and No. 29 Wake Forest), plus three more in the top 50 (No. 36 NC State, No. 41 Clemson and No. 48 Virginia Tech).
Sophomore Estela Perez-Somarriba added 2.59 ranking points since last week, but kept the same spot as the third-ranked player in the country, matching her seed in the NCAA Singles Championship. She is one of 10 ACC players in the top 30. Eight are ranked top-25 with six in the top 20 and four in the top six.
Senior Sinead Lohan is the second-highest-ranked singles player on the Miami roster, as she has the No. 69 place on the list.
Additionally, Perez-Somarriba is again ranked with multiple doubles partners, holding the No. 51 spot with junior Ana Madcur and the No. 68 position with junior Daniella Roldan. The latter is an 11-place increase from last week.
Miami returns to the court May 11 at 2 p.m. to begin NCAA Team Championship play against LIU Brooklyn at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
