Men's Tennis Readies for Senior Day Doubleheader
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team will conclude its regular season Sunday with a home doubleheader against No. 7 North Carolina and Dayton.

Miami’s second contest against top-10 competition will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra at 9 a.m., while a live stream for the first ever clash between the Canes and the Flyers, which will begin no earlier than 2 p.m., will be accessible HERE.
THE SERIES
Even though the Tar Heels (19-4, 10-1 ACC) have won the previous 10 meetings, it is Miami who leads the all-time series between the Canes and North Carolina, 22-16. Miami’s last win came on the road in 2009, when David Rosenfeld picked up a win at No. 3 to edge the then-No. 34 Tar Heels. Last year, then-No. 11 UNC bested Miami, 6-1, in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Miami carries a 9-1 record against current Atlantic 10 Conference members, including an 8-0 mark against Davidson. In addition to the Wildcats, the Hurricanes have split matches against Rhode Island and Saint Joseph’s, respectively. All 10 of Miami’s contests against A-10 opposition have taken place before 1982.
HIGHLIGHTING MIAMI’S 2018 SEASON
-On Friday, the Canes earned their second top-25 win of the season, defeating No. 22 Duke 4-3 at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center for their 11thhome victory of the season. The triumph was the first against a top-22 team since March 21, 2014, when Miami edged then-No. 18 Wake Forest.
-On April 6, Miami edged three-time defending national champion Virginia, 4-3, to hand the Cavaliers their first ACC defeat in Charlottesville since April 7, 2006, when Miami earned a 4-3 victory at the Snyder Tennis Center.
-For second straight week, the Canes have a top-20 doubles tandem, with senior Christian Langmo and freshman Adria Soriano checking in at No. 20 in the Oracle/ITA rankings. The duo, which was ranked No. 18 last week, is the program’s first to break into the top 20 since Jan. 6, 2009.
-As a team, the Hurricanes are ranked for fourth straight week and fifth time this season, checking in at No. 48. Miami has been ranked as high as No. 42 this spring, the program’s highest ranking since March 23, 2014.
-Soriano and Langmo remain ranked in singles play, as well, checking in at No. 108 and 123, respectively. Langmo has been ranked in each of the last five editions of the rankings.
-The win at Virginia was Miami’s third over a ranked opponent in 2018 after home triumphs against then-No. 23 NC State and then-38 Louisville.
-Miami freshmen have captured 38 singles wins this spring. Freshman Bojan Jankulovski, who was ranked as high as No. 101 this season, leads the team this spring with a team-best 18-5 singles record, including a team-best 9-2 singles record in ACC play.
-Miami’s 6-2 start to the season was the Hurricanes’ best start since 2013.
-The Hurricanes, who are 11-1 at home, posted a seven-match win streak in Coral Gables for the first time since 2014, when the Hurricanes won nine straight between Feb. 22 and March 25.
LAST TIME OUT
Thanks to singles victories at the top four positions, Miami bounced back after dropping the doubles point to the Blue Devils and locked the victory with two matches to spare. Soriano and Langmo won the ranked matchups at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, Jankulovski won third straight match at 3, while redshirt sophomore Dane Dunlap recorded a straight-set victory at No. 4.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
North Carolina has won six straight Atlantic Coast Conference matches to improve 10-1 in conference play, sitting atop the standings alongside top-ranked Wake Forest. The Tar Heels were clinical in Tallahassee Friday, besting the Seminoles 4-1 to extend their unbeaten road run to five matches.
The Tar Heels have five ranked players in singles play, led by second-ranked William Blumberg, with No. 38 Benjamin Sigouin also in the top 50. Robert Kelly rounds off the trio, sitting at No. 87 this week. In addition, Blumberg and Kelly make up for the top-ranked doubles tandem in the nation.
Dayton does not have any singles or doubles players in the Oracle/ITA rankings.
UP NEXT
Miami will travel up to Cary, N.C., next week for the 2018 ACC Championships on April 25-29. Currently sitting in 10th place, the Canes’ seed will be determined after the regular season wraps up Sunday.
