No. 42 Men's Tennis Wraps Up Road Slate at BC

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team will face Boston College Sunday in its final regular-season road match of the 2018 season.

THE SERIES
The Hurricanes (12-9, 3-6 ACC update) lead the all-time series against Boston College convincingly, winning 13 of the 14 meetings to date. Miami has never conceded more than two points in its victories over BC and has allowed one or no points in 12 of its 13 victories in the series.

Last season, the teams met twice, including in the opening of the ACC Championship. The Canes outscored BC, 12-1, over the two contests, including sweeping the Eagles in Coral Gables, 7-0, in the regular season.
 
HIGHLIGHTING MIAMI’S 2018 SEASON
-On April 6, Miami edged three-time-defending national champion Virginia, 4-3, to hand the Cavaliers its first ACC defeat in Charlottesville since April 7, 2006, when Miami earned a 4-3 victory at the Snyder Tennis Center.

-For the first time since Jan. 6, 2009, the Canes have a top-20 doubles tandem, with senior Christian Langmo and freshman Adria Soriano checking in at No. 18 in the Oracle/ITA rankings. The Hurricanes are ranked No. 42 as a team, their highest ranking since March 23, 2014. The team is ranked for third consecutive week.

-Soriano and Langmo remain ranked in singles play as well, checking in at No. 98 and 118, respectively. Langmo has been ranked in each of the last four editions of the rankings.

-The win at Virginia was Miami’s third over a ranked opponent in 2018 after home triumphs against then-No. 23 NC State and then-38 Louisville.

-Miami freshmen have captured 35 singles wins this spring. Freshman Bojan Jankulovski, who was ranked No. 101 on Feb. 4, leads the team this spring, owning a team-best 15-5 singles record, including a team-best 6-2 singles record in ACC play.

-Miami’s 6-2 start to the season was the Hurricanes’ best start since 2013. 

-The Hurricanes, who are 10-1 at home, posted a seven-match win streak in Coral Gables for the first time since 2014, when the Hurricanes won nine straight between Feb. 22 and March 25.

LAST TIME OUT
Doubles partner Dunlap and Jankulovski each picked up a doubles and singles victories Friday afternoon, but Miami fell, 5-2, at Notre Dame.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Eagles (5-13, 0-9 ACC) are on an 11-match losing streak and have not tasted victory since Feb. 18. On Thursday, the Eagles fell to No. 13 Florida State, 6-1, at home and have now scored two or fewer points in their last nine matchups. Boston College does not have any ranked singles or doubles players.

UP NEXT
The Canes return home for the last three contests of the regular season. On Friday, Miami takes on No. 20 Duke at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center, before hosting No. 8 North Carolina and Dayton for a Senior Day doubleheader on Sunday.
