W. Tennis Concludes March at No. 19 Wake Forest
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team is set to play its third consecutive road match against a top-25 opponent this weekend at No. 19 Wake Forest.
No. 23 Miami (9-6, 5-3 ACC) will take on the Demon Deacons Saturday at noon at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex. Live stats and live video for the match will both be available HERE.
The Hurricanes have a 19-1 all-time record against Wake Forest, winning 15 straight contests since the lone defeat in 1994. Miami is 8-0 on the road versus the Demon Deacons and posted a 4-0 home victory last season on March 5, 2017 in the series’ most recent meeting.
Miami heads into the weekend with two nationally-ranked singles players in sophomore Estela Perez-Somarriba and senior Sinead Lohan. The two former NCAA Singles Championship semifinalists check in at eighthand No. 71, respectively, on the list.
In doubles, the Hurricanes have two ranked pairs, both featuring junior Ana Madcur. She teams with Perez-Somarriba in the No. 38 spot and with Lohan in the No. 50 position.
Wake Forest sports a 15-5 (4-3 ACC) mark thus far in 2018, entering its Thursday matchup with top-ranked North Carolina. The team has two ranked singles players in No. 32 Emma Davis and No. 94 Eliza Omirou.
Additionally, the Demon Deacons have one doubles duo in the Oracle/ITA rankings, as Davis and Chandler Carter sit in the No. 31 spot.
After playing Wake Forest, the Hurricanes begin a three-match homestand April 6 at noon against No. 50 Boston College.
