Men's Tennis Ranked No. 46 By Oracle/ITA

CORAL GABLES, Fla.  The University of Miami men’s tennis team earned its highest national rankings of the season after being tabbed No. 46 in this week’s Oracle/ITA rankings.

The achievement matches the Hurricanes’ (9-7, 1-4 ACC) highest position in the rankings since April 8, 2014. It comes after Miami earned its first Atlantic Coast Conference victory in 2018, edging No. 23 NC State Sunday, 4-3, for the team’s first victory against a top-25 opponent since March 21, 2014, a span of four years and four days.

Miami made a four-spot jump from its first rankings appearance this season, when it occupied the No. 50 position for its first appearance among the nation’s best in two seasons.

The Canes are one of nine ACC teams in the rankings this week, led by No. 1 Wake Forest and No. 5 North Carolina. Florida State also found a spot in the top 10 and checks in at No. 9, while Duke slipped three positions to No. 21. Notre Dame rounds off the top half at No. 25, followed by No. 37 Virginia and No. 38 Louisville.

The Canes have five matches against ranked opposition remaining on their ACC slate, including home contests against Louisville, Duke and UNC, as well as road trips to Virginia and Notre Dame.

Miami will complete a four-match homestand this weekend, facing South Alabama Friday before taking on the 38th-ranked Cardinals Sunday.
