Men's Tennis Earns First ACC Honor of the Season
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami men’s tennis senior Christian Langmo and freshman Adria Soriano were named ACC Men’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
The No. 50 duo earns Miami’s first ACC weekly honor of the season after defeating No. 11 Korey Lovett and Eero Vasa of UCF, 6-3, in their first-ever outing together, which helped the Hurricanes (8-6, 0-3) earn the doubles point.
The victory was the second over a ranked opponent for each of them. Early in the season, Langmo defeated Mississippi State’s then-No. 41 Florian Broska and Giovanni Oradini, 7-6 (7-1), alongside redshirt sophomore Dane Dunlap. In the same match, Soriano teamed up with fellow rookie Bojan Jankulovski for the first ranked doubles victory of his young career – 6-1 against then-No. 49 Niclas Braun and Trevor Foshey.
Soriano snapped a three-match doubles skid to improve to 5-4 on the season. The freshman holds a 3-3 record at the No. 1 doubles spot.
Miami returns to Atlantic Coast Conference play this Friday, hosting top-ranked Wake Forest at 3 p.m., at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. The first weekend of a four-match homestand will be completed on Sunday against No. 23 NC State at noon.
