W. Tennis Jumps to No. 31 Nationally
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team checks in at No. 31 in this week’s Oracle/ITA rankings, as announced Tuesday afternoon.
Miami (7-3, 3-0 ACC) ascended 11 spots from its March 6 ranking, good for the third-highest rise in the country. The only teams that moved up more were a pair of Pac-12 schools in Stanford and Washington State, which jumped 21 and 15 positions, respectively.
The Hurricanes have won five consecutive matches and are coming off a 5-2 win against Florida State, then No. 16 and now No. 22, Friday night at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
Miami and Florida State are joined by 10 other ACC teams in the rankings, as all but three schools in the conference are in the top 50.
The Hurricanes, under the direction of 17th-year head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews, resume play Wednesday at 3 p.m., in Atlanta against sixth-ranked Georgia Tech.
