W. Tennis to Face Georgia State in Fort Myers
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team resumes play Saturday afternoon with its second match of the season at a neutral site.
Miami (2-3) is set to square off with Georgia State at 2 p.m., at the FGCU Tennis Complex in Fort Myers, Fla.
Saturday’s contest at FGCU will be the first meeting between the Hurricanes and Panthers.
Miami enters the match with a trio of nationally-ranked singles players. Sophomore Estela Perez-Somarriba leads the way at No. 23 and is followed by junior Ana Madcur at No. 114 and senior Sinead Lohan at No. 116.
In doubles, Perez-Somarriba and Madcur join together to form the No. 33 pair on the Oracle/ITA list.
Georgia State is 5-4 on the season, but has won four of its past five outings. The Panthers do not have any players or duos in the national rankings.
After taking on Georgia State, Miami will be back in action March 2 when it hosts a doubleheader at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. The Hurricanes play Pittsburgh at 10 a.m., and Florida Atlantic at 5 p.m.
