CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team has added a second match to its 2018 slate, head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews announced Thursday.
No. 17 Miami (1-1) will play FGCU in two days, hosting the Eagles Saturday at 11 a.m., at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
Previously, the Hurricanes added a neutral site match at the Eagles’ home courts, the FGCU Tennis Complex in Fort Myers, Fla., versus Georgia State Feb. 24 at 2 p.m.
Miami is 3-0 all-time against FGCU, outscoring the Eagles by a total margin of 19-2. All three matches were in Coral Gables, with the Hurricanes earning a 6-1 triumph on Feb. 20, 2015 in the most recent affair.
The Hurricanes will be competing for the first time in nearly two weeks, having not taken the court for a match since Jan. 28.
Miami features two nationally-ranked singles players in sophomore Estela Perez-Somarriba and senior Sinead Lohan, who place No. 16 and No. 58, respectively.
In doubles, Perez-Somarriba and junior Ana Madcur check in at No. 33 in the country, the first time either has been ranked on the doubles list.
The Eagles sport an identical 1-1 record, but do not have any players in the national rankings either in singles or doubles.
Following their contest against FGCU, the Hurricanes will be back on the court Feb. 17 at 11:30 a.m., when they play No. 18 Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla.
