Men's Tennis Senior Spotlight: Nile Clark

University of Miami men’s tennis senior Nile Clark took some time away from his busy schedule to talk about his career as a student-athlete at The U in this edition of the Hurricane Senior Spotlight.

Q: Did your college career go by as fast as everyone told you it would?

A: “It actually went by faster. I remember committing to come to Miami and being excited to come to school the summer before my freshman year and that feels like yesterday. I don’t really know where the time goes.”

Q: What is the most positive impact the University of Miami has made on you as a person?

A: “It’s made me grow a lot as person and in tennis, it has made me tougher just being able to compete with top players all the time. I’ve also learned to be selfless when competing with my teammates.”

Q: What excites you the most about this spring season?

A: “The love for competition. Deep down everyone just wants to compete and you just have a hunger for it. When we get the chance to play teams like Florida State, those moments are just amazing. You want to experience those moments again and again once you get a taste of it. Competing in those big moments become addicting.”

Q: How much do you enjoying spending time with your teammates?

A: “I love being around the guys all the time. Those are my brothers.”

Q: Describe your experience playing in the ACC”

A: “The competition is very high. It’s exciting to play against such great competition. Then to see the guys you compete against play in the US Open is really cool and you don’t see that everywhere.”

Q: What made you come to the University of Miami?

A: “My sister also went to the University of Miami, so I was very familiar with the campus and I had spent a bunch of time in South Florida training before I came to school, so I knew the area and I was comfortable with everything.”

Q: How good do you feel this team can be?

A: “I don’t want to put a limit on anything. We just have to prove that we belong and take care of business on the tennis court.”

Q: What is one thing you will miss the most as a student-athlete?

A: “I’m going to miss the daily grind. We have great facilities here, so it makes it easy to get up and put in the work. I’ll also miss playing Florida State because I love playing against them.”
