McIntosh Named Defensive Lineman of the Week

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami junior defensive lineman RJ McIntosh was among those recognized with weekly honors from the Atlantic Coast Conference, as announced Monday.

McIntosh, who was named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week, joins Braxton Berrios (Receiver of the Week, Oct. 9), Darrell Langham (Co-Receiver of the Week, Oct. 16), Michael Badgley (Specialist of the Week, Oct. 16), Christopher Herndon (Receiver of the Week, Oct. 23) and Michael Pinckney (Linebacker of the Week, Oct. 23) as Miami honorees through the first nine weeks of the season.

McIntosh tied for the team lead and posted a career mark with 11 total tackles in a 24-19 win over North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Oct. 28.

The junior standout, who has started every game on the interior of the defensive line for the past two seasons, added one tackle for loss and one PBU in the win.

McIntosh ranks second among players on the defensive line with 28 total tackles this year, and has compiled 5.5 tackles for loss and six PBUs – the second-most on the Hurricanes, trailing only defensive back Malek Young.

Miami continues its ACC slate with a Homecoming tilt against Virginia Tech on Nov. 4 at Hard Rock Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. on ABC, 560 WQAM and 990AM ESPN Deportes.
