Soccer Earns 13th Straight Academic Recognition
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – United Soccer Coaches, formerly the NSCAA, announced Thursday its 2016-17 Team Academic Award recipients and the University of Miami is among the honorees.
This marks the 14th time in the last 15 years, including the 13th in a row, the Hurricanes have garnered the award, which is given to teams with cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 in the previous school year.
“I am very proud of our team for earning this prestigious award,” Miami head coach Mary-Frances Monroe said. “As you can tell, we are well-rounded and as competitive in the classroom as we are on the field.”
Miami finished the 2016-17 academic year with a team GPA of 3.51 and had two players receive perfect 4.0 marks. Three other Hurricanes had at least a 3.9 GPA and two of those posted a 4.0 in one semester.

Miami will be back in action Thursday at 7 p.m., when it hosts fifth-ranked North Carolina at Cobb Stadium.
