@CanesWTennis Earns 15th Straight Top-25 Finish
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team concluded the 2017 season ranked No. 25 in the country, as announced Wednesday by the ITA.
This is the 15th year in a row the Hurricanes have ended the year in the top 25, a streak that dates back to head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews‘ second season at the helm in 2003.
Miami finished fourth in the ACC standings for the 13th consecutive season—each one it has been in the conference—and concluded the campaign as the league’s fourth-highest-ranked team.
The Hurricanes went 13-12 (8-6 ACC), posting a record of at least .500 for the 21st year in a row and finishing with a winning mark for the 17th straight season.
Miami went 9-3 over its final 12 matches of the campaign and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Team Championship for the 16th year in a row.
Over the last four rankings releases of 2017, the Hurricanes jumped 20 spots, moving from No. 45 on April 11 all the way to No. 25 in the final installment. Miami last appeared in the top 25 on Feb. 15 at No. 21 on the list.
The final ITA singles and doubles rankings will be released May 31, following the conclusion of the NCAA individual championships.
