@CanesMensTennis to Face UNC and Wake Forest
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis program will hit the road for the third consecutive weekend, while taking on a pair of top-15 opponents in the state of North Carolina. The Canes will first travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., Friday at 3 p.m., for battle against No. 11 University of North Carolina, before landing in Winston-Salem, N.C., for a matchup against the top-ranked Wake Forest University Sunday at 1 p.m.
Friday’s matchup will be the 38th meeting between the Hurricanes and Tar Heels, with UM leading the all-time series 23-14. Then-top-ranked UNC won the most recent matchup against the Canes, 6-1, on March 13, 2016.
Junior Piotr Lomacki shined in the match, first teaming up with junior Nile Clark in doubles play. Currently sitting at 8-1 as a pair this spring, the duo defeated then-No. 30 Jack Murray and Brayden Schnur, 6-4. In singles, then-No. 28 Lomacki who led 4-1 in the match, won by default when Schnur was forced to retire due to injury.
Miami (6-7, 0-4 ACC) will enter the weekend with Lomacki at No. 73 in the ITA singles rankings, as released March 21.
North Carolina (16-2, 3-1 ACC) features three players in the ITA singles rankings, including Ronnie Schneider at No. 19 nationally. William Blumberg at No. 31 and Robert Kelly at No. 54 join him on the list. In doubles, Blumberg and Kelly team up to form the No. 16 duo in the country.

Sunday’s matchup will mark the 23rd meeting between the Hurricanes and the Demon Deacons as UM leads the all-time series 13-9. Miami dropped its most recent matchup against then-No. 13 Wake Forest, 7-0, on March 25, 2016.
In last season’s matchup, a trio of matches featured six individuals returning to the courts this season at the Wake Forest Tennis Center. Then-No. 16 Skander Mansouri took down Lomacki, 6-4, 6-3, while then-No. 36 Petros Chrysochos defeated Max Andrews, 6-2, 6-4. Junior Kevin Bondar also came up short against Dennis Uspensky, 3-6, 3-6.
Wake Forest (16-1, 5-0 ACC) features four nationally-ranked singles players, including Chrysochos, who holds the No. 2 spot in the nation. Also on the list are No. 14 Skander Mansouri, No. 50 Christian Seraphim and No. 57 Borna Gojo. In doubles, Seraphim and Mansouri form the country’s top-ranked doubles team.

Next weekend the Hurricanes will return home to the Neil Schiff Tennis Center, welcoming a pair of ACC foes, beginning with Boston College Friday, April 7 at 3 p.m. Miami will wrap up the weekend two days later, when it faces No. 49 Notre Dame Sunday at noon.
