Lomacki Rises Three Spots to No. 67
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The third in-season ITA singles rankings were released Tuesday afternoon as the University of Miami men’s tennis team prepares for a pair of dual matches this weekend at home against Boston University and No. 17 Georgia Tech.
Previously ranked No. 70 in singles, junior Piotr Lomacki is the lone Cane represented in the poles, rising to No. 67.
Playing No. 1, Lomacki is 5-2 to start his junior campaign, earning victories over North Florida’s No. 51 Jack Findel-Hawkins, FAU’s Andrei M-Kougoucheff, Clemson’s Alex Favrot, FGCU’s Oliver Landert and Troy’s Andy Lau. The native of Poland’s losses came against third-ranked Nunos Borges of Mississippi State and No. 102 David Biosca of ETSU.
Miami (5-3) is currently riding a two game winning streak after taking down FGCU, 4-3, Saturday, February 25, and ETSU, 5-2, Monday.
The Hurricanes will host a pair of competitors this weekend, beginning with Boston University on Friday at 4 p.m. Miami will wrap up the weekend two days later, with its second ACC match of the season against No. 17 Georgia Tech on Sunday at noon.
