Lomacki Rises 23 Spots in ITA Singles

CORAL GABLES, Fla.  The first in-season ITA singles and doubles rankings were released Wednesday afternoon as the University of Miami men’s tennis team prepares for a pair of dual matches this weekend at home against No. 16 Mississippi State and Florida Atlantic. Previously ranked No. 86 in singles, junior Piotr Lomacki is the lone Cane represented in the poles, rising to No. 63.   Playing No. 1, Lomacki is 2-0 to start his junior campaign, earning victories over North Florida’s No. 51 Findel-Hawkins, 6-1, 6-1, and Troy’s Andy Lau, 6-3, 6-4. Miami (2-1) opened the season with a shutout victory over St. John’s University, 4-0, before falling to UNF, 4-2. Last weekend, the Canes got back on track taking down the Trojans, 6-1. Miami will play host this weekend for a pair of matches, welcoming Mississippi State and FAU to the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
