Men's Tennis set to Host Troy
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis program will continue its 11-match home stretch Saturday at noon, when it hosts Troy University at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
Saturday’s matchup will be the fourth meeting between Miami and Troy, as the Hurricanes hold the all-time series lead over the Trojans with a record of 3-0. Last spring, UM defeated No. 68 Troy, 4-3, on Jan. 30.
The Canes (1-1) opened their season two weeks ago, earning a shutout victory, 4-0, over St. John’s, before falling to North Florida two days later, 4-2, on Jan. 22.
Facing the Red Storm, junior Christian Langmo and sophomore Dane Dunlap helped UM earn its first victory of the 2017 season. The duo won their doubles matchup, 6-3, while senior Jesse Flores and junior Nile Clark also earned a 6-3 victory to give the Canes the early 1-0 lead.
In singles play Langmo and Dunlap both earned points for Miami as Langmo sealed the match with a 6-2, 6-3, victory over Alan Nunez-Aguilera.
Battling the Owls, junior No. 86 Piotr Lomacki went 2-0 on the day, earning a doubles victory with Clark, in addition to earning a point for the Hurricanes in singles play. The native of Poland took down No. 51 Jack Findel-Hawkins, 6-1, 6-1.
Next weekend the Hurricanes will host a pair of competitors, beginning with No. 16 Mississippi State Friday, Feb. 10 at 3 p.m. Miami will wrap up the weekend two days later, with a home match against Florida Atlantic Sunday at 3 p.m.
