Canes Earn 12th Straight NSCAA Academic Team Honor
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – For the 12th consecutive year, the University of Miami soccer team has been recognized as a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Academic Team.
The honor goes to all teams with an overall GPA of at least 3.0 for an academic year and Miami posted an outstanding 3.57 mark in 2015-16.
Of the 577 women’s teams to receive the honor, the Hurricanes’ mark tied for No. 49, including ranking first in the ACC, third in Florida and No. 20 among all Division I programs.
“We hold ourselves to a high standard, both on and off the field,” Miami head coach Mary-Frances Monroe said. “I am very proud of this team for all its success in the classroom.”
This marks the 13th time in the last 14 seasons the Hurricanes have earned the recognition. Miami, which had 22 of its 23 players last year make the ACC Honor Roll, is joined by nine other schools in the conference on the list. All of the NSCAA Academic Team honorees can be found HERE.
Miami returns to action on the field Thursday night at 7 p.m., when it takes on No. 15 North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C. The match will be broadcast live on RSN, with a coverage map available HERE, as well as ACC Network Extra, subject to blackout, HERE.
