Andrews/Tefel Ranked No. 72; Łomacki No. 37

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis doubles pair of Max Andrews and Bernard Tefel remain nationally ranked this week at No. 72, while sophomore Piotr Lomacki has improved his position, moving into the No. 37 spot, according to the Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings.

The duo of Andrews and Tefel initially broke onto the ITA list on April 5, earning their first ranking at No. 66. The junior pair first competed together on Feb. 15, 2016, and are 6-4 overall with a 3-4 mark in ACC action. Andrews and Tefel are 1-1 against ranked players, taking down 12th-ranked Skander Mansouri and Christian Seraphim of Wake Forest, 6-3, on March 25.

In singles, Lomacki has been ranked throughout the entire season. This week’s mark of No. 37 is Lomacki’s third-highest ranking behind only his No. 23 spot in the initial spring poll, and his No. 28 ranking last month.

Lomacki is now 14-6 overall and 6-4 in ACC play. He currently holds a three-match winning streak, recently defeating then-No. 55 Simon Norenius of NC State, 6-3, 7-6. Lomacki’s longest winning streak spanned between Feb. 15 and March 8, when he grabbed five-straight wins. Two of those wins were over ranked players, including then-No. 16 Benjamin Lock of Florida State and then-No. 60 Jathan Malik of Michigan.

As a team, the Hurricanes are 8-12 this season with a 3-7 mark in league play. The Canes will conclude the regular season this weekend, taking on No. 40 Virginia Tech on Friday, April 15 at 1 p.m. in Blacksburg, Va., and No. 1 Virginia on Sunday, April 17 in Charlottesville, Va., at Noon.
