@CanesMensTennis To Take on Middle Tennessee
The University of Miami men’s tennis team will continue its regular season schedule this Tuesday, March 8 against the No. 61 ranked Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders. The match will begin at 12 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Canes are 3-0 in the all time record against the Blue Raiders. The last matchup between the two teams was in 2002, where Miami topped Middle Tennessee with a 4-3 win.
Middle Tennessee enters Tuesday’s match with a spring record of 10-3. The Blue Raiders come to Coral Gables off of a 1-6 loss to Columbia, and a 7-0 win against Tennessee State.
Miami (6-4, 1-0) is looking to gain momentum after earning an upset victory over No. 47 Florida State. The Canes battled the Seminoles to attain a 4-3 win, the team’s first win against Florida State since 2011.
Miami trumped FSU in singles play with the help of No. 81 Christian Langmo (2-6, 7-5, 6-0), junior Jesse Flores (7-6, 7-5, 7-5) and junior Max Andrews (7-6, 7-5, 6-0). It was No. 81 Piotr Lomacki who underlined Miami’s powerful effort against Florida State, clinching the win as he defeated No. 16 Benjamin Lock 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Following Tuesday’s match, Miami will look to improve their ACC record as they take on No. 57 Duke University. The Canes take on the Blue Devils Friday, March 11 at 2:30 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
