@CanesMensTennis Host Davidson Wildcats
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis program will continue its 2016 spring campaign against Davidson College on Tuesday March 1 at 2 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The meeting will be the ninth meeting between Miami and Davidson. The Canes have an 8-0 all-time record against the Wildcats with their last matchup ending in a 9-0 win on April 15, 1960. The Wildcats hold a current spring record of 3-4, while the Hurricanes maintain a 4-3 record.
The Hurricanes are looking to extend their win streak at home. Miami has won its last four matches at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center, defeating FAU, UCF, Troy University and Army West Point.
Most recently, Miami’s match against Army West Point resulted in a 4-0 win on Feb. 15. In doubles play, Miami developed a complete and consistent rhythm. Junior Jesse Flores and sophomore Christian Langmo won their match, 6-4, and junior duo Max Andrews and Bernard Tefel grabbed theirs, 6-1, win to give Miami the upper hand entering singles play.
In singles play Andrews won his two sets in a dominating fashion, 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Fermin Calvo breezed through his two sets with a 6-1, 6-1 win for the Canes. No. 78 Piotr Lomacki grabbed the win for Miami after his three sets, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.
After their match against Davidson College, the Canes continue to play at the Schiff when they host No. 28 Michigan on Thursday, March 3 at 2 p.m. Miami will then kick off ACC play against Florida State on Sunday, March 6 at 3 p.m.
