@CanesWTennis up to No. 11 in ITA Rankings

CORAL GABLES, Fla. For the second-straight week, the University of Miami women’s tennis team moved up one position in the Oracle/ITA rankings, as announced Wednesday afternoon.

Miami (2-0) is now ranked No. 11 in the country. The Hurricanes began the season at No. 13 nationally, their 12th-consecutive top-15 ranking to open the year, and then rose to No. 12 last week.

The Hurricanes are joined by five other ACC schools in the top 25 this week. Four ACC teams are ranked in the top 15. Both marks are the second-most of any conference.

Miami posted a 2-0 mark last week during ITA Kick-Off Weekend, earning a 4-0 win Saturday over Middle Tennessee and then a 4-2 victory Sunday against Auburn, then No. 41 and now No. 40.

With the victories over the Blue Raiders and the Tigers, head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews’ team qualified for the ITA National Indoor Team Championship for the 12th season in a row. It will be Miami’s 16th time playing in the tournament overall. The event takes places Feb. 5-8 in Madison, Wis.

Before traveling to the Badger State, Miami first opens ACC play Friday at 3 p.m. against No. 24 Georgia Tech at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
