Three Canes Ranked Top 125 in ITA
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Three University of Miami student-athletes – Piotr Lomacki, Christian Langmo and Max Andrews – are listed in the singles national rankings as Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the updated Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings for Division I men on Tuesday.
Lomacki, a sophomore from Warsaw, Poland, checked in at No. 23 on the national rankings. He is one of eight Atlantic Coast Conference players ranked in the top 25, the most of any league in the country.
Lomacki won six matches this fall, playing in the Round of 16 of the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional. He also won a pair of matches over players ranked in the top 75 in the ITA Men’s All-American Championships. At the UVa Ranked 1+1, he took down the No. 26 player in the country.
Sophomore Christian Langmo of Boca Raton, Fla., is ranked No. 70 and junior Max Andrews, of Manchester, England, is listed at No. 107 in the rankings.
This fall Langmo was 10-4 overall, playing in the finals of the UVa Ranked 1+1, defeating the No. 79 player in the quarterfinals, and falling to No. 72 in the final. Langmo also played into the semifinals of the Lakewood Ranch Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic, falling to teammate and eventual champion, Andrews.
Andrews went 14-5 this fall, winning the Lakewood Ranch Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic in November. He also played his way to the Round of 16 in the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional and the Round of 64 in the ITA Men’s All-American Championship.
Miami opens the fall season Jan. 16 when St. John’s comes to Coral Gables to face the Canes at 2 p.m. UM then squares off against Florida Atlantic the next day, also at 2 p.m.
