@CanesFutbol Heads North to Play Syracuse
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team is leaving the warmth of south Florida for the cold of the Northeast this weekend.
The Hurricanes are set to take on Syracuse Thursday at 8 p.m. at SU Soccer Stadium, with the match to be broadcast live on RSN, which will be FOX Sports Sun in the Miami area.
Miami’s contest against the Orange is part of a two-match road swing up North, as the team will travel to Boston College to face the Eagles Sunday at 1 p.m. These are the final two remaining away matches on the schedule for Miami (5-9-0, 2-5-0 ACC).
Thursday’s matchup marks the third meeting as ACC foes between Miami and Syracuse, with the Orange winning each of the first two.
The Hurricanes, under the direction of third-year head coach Mary-Frances Monroe, have had five of their seven conference matches decided by one goal this season, including three in double overtime. Three of those five come against teams at least receiving votes in the NSCAA Coaches Poll, including two teams ranked in the top 15.
Syracuse enters Thursday night’s affair at 5-10-1 on the season and sports a 1-6-0 mark in ACC play. The Orange went 5-10-4 in 2014, with a 2-7-1 record in conference matches.
Tom Werme and Katie Witham will be on the call for Thursday night’s match, which will be shown on ESPN3 HERE (subject to blackout). Additionally, live stats can be found HERE.
