Langmo Ends Run at ITA Championships
TULSA, Okla. – On Wednesday, sophomore Christian Langmo played his opponent to three sets before ending his run through the qualifying bracket at the 2015 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men’s All-American Championships held in Tulsa, Okla.
Langmo, a native of Boca Raton, Fla., battled Tulane’s Constantin Schmitz to three sets, but ultimately lost, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, in the third and final round of qualifying singles.
Throughout the event, Langmo defeated a pair of top 100 players in this event, taking down No. 82 Ricardo Jorge of Mississippi in the first round and No. 95 Nick Bybel of Bucknell in the second round.
Main draw singles and doubles begin on Thursday in Tulsa. Miami sophomore No. 45 Piotr Lomacki will compete in the 64-player main draw singles event, facing Tom Fawcett (9-16 seed) of Stanford, at 12 p.m. The singles finals are scheduled for Oct. 12.
This marks the 11th straight year that the University of Tulsa is serving as the official tournament host, and most of the action during the two-week event is taking place on the courts of the Michael D. Singles quarterfinalists, doubles finalists and consolation champions will receive an automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on Nov. 12-15, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York.
