Lomacki and Langmo Win at UVa Ranked

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami sophomores No. 45 Piotr Lomacki and Christian Langmo each won their first round matches on Friday at the 10th Annual UVa Ranked 1+1 Invitational, held at the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville, Va.

Lomacki, the No. 2 seed in the orange draw, fell behind Skander Mansouri of Wake Forest early, but came back with a pair of strong sets to defeat the Demon Deacon, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. The native of Warsaw, Poland, will face Matt Berry of Penn State Saturday at 11 a.m.

Also in the orange draw, Langmo took down Wake Forest’s Christian Seraphim, 7-6 (4), 7-5, after forcing a tiebreak in the first set. The sophomore from Boca Raton, Fla., will also play at 11 a.m. Saturday, facing William Bushamuka of Kentucky, who upset the No. 1 seed, No. 28 Andreas Bjerrehus from Virginia Tech in the first round.

In the blue draw, junior transfer Max Andrews was defeated, 7-6 (3), 6-2, by No. 3 seed, No. 70 Joao Monteiro of Virginia Tech. Andrews will face North Florida’s Julian Bradley at Noon Saturday.

In doubles play, Lomacki and Andrews paired up as the No. 2 seed in the orange draw. The duo, ranked No. 48 nationally, lost, 8-4, to Austin Hussy and Trey Yates from Kentucky in the first round, but came back with an 8-5 win over Aws Laaribi and Matt Berry from Penn State. The Canes will face Jai Corbett and Aaron Gomez from Virginia Tech at 10 a.m. Saturday.
