Men's Tennis Opens Fall Season This Weekend
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team will split the squad between a pair of events this weekend to open the fall season. Three players will go to Charlottesville, Va., while five Canes will travel to Princeton, N.J.
No. 45 Piotr Lomacki, Christian Langmo and Max Andrews will travel with Coach Mario Rincon to the 10th Annual UVa Ranked 1+1 Invitational, one of the top tournaments in the country, held at the Snyder Tennis Center Sept. 18-20. Lomacki, who is No. 45 in ITA singles rankings, is seeded No. 3 in the blue bracket. Langmo and Andrews will compete as unranked players.
The No. 48 duo of Lomacki and Andrews are the No. 3 seed, and Langmo will team up with Aaron Gomez from Virginia Tech in doubles.
The tournament consists of two 16-player singles draws, the orange bracket and the blue bracket, and one 16-team doubles draw. All matches at the tournament will be played with no-ad scoring, with doubles consisting of an eight-game pro set and singles played in a best-of-three sets format.
Kevin Bondar, Nile Clark, Jesse Flores, Niclas Genovese and Bernard Tefel will join assistant coach Mark Dickson in representing Miami at the Ivy Plus Tournament held at the Lenz Tennis Center on the Princeton University campus.
The tournament will have eight singles flights and four doubles flights, and the field includes players from Brown, Bucknell, Buffalo, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Indiana, Michigan, NJIT, Notre Dame, Old Dominion, Penn, Penn State, Princeton, St. John’s, Tennessee, Tulsa, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and Yale.
Draws for each tournament will be released in the near future.
