@CanesFutbol Set to Open Preseason Camp
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team reports Tuesday to start its preseason camp for the 2015 season, with training set to begin Wednesday morning.
“The entire coaching staff is really excited to finally see all of the players back on Cobb Stadium,” Miami head coach Mary-Frances Monroe said. “They have put in a lot of hard work this summer to prepare themselves for preseason and to be at their best once games begin.”
The Hurricanes have two exhibition games on their schedule to help ready them for the upcoming season. They will play at FIU Thursday, Aug. 13 at 7:00 p.m. and then travel to face Stetson Sunday, Aug. 16 at 1:00 p.m.
Miami opens its regular season Friday, Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the College of Charleston in the Charleston Nike Classic. The team will also face Texas two days later in South Carolina at 12:00 p.m. The Hurricanes’ home opener is set for Thursday, Aug. 27 at 7:00 p.m. against Florida.
The Hurricanes welcome back 12 letter winners, including eight starters from the 2014 season. Miami also has eight newcomers on the 2015 roster.
“We are excited about the returning players and their experience on the field, and for the freshman class to learn from the best,” Monroe said. “We pride ourselves on hard work and this team is ready to compete.”
