Rincon Signs Transfer Max Andrews

University of Miami Coach Mario Rincon has added transfer Max Andrews to the men’s tennis team, the school announced Wednesday.

“We are very excited to have Max join our program,” said Rincon. “He comes to UM with two years of college tennis on his resume, and many good matches under his belt. Max has a complete game that will continue to improve, and will make an immediate impact to our team in both singles and doubles.”

Andrews transferred from Rice University and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining, beginning with the 2015-16 season.

The 6-foot-2-inch Andrews closed a successful sophomore season at Rice by earning All C-USA doubles honors. He was second on the team with a 13-8 mark while playing primarily at No. 2 in the lineup. The native of Manchester, England, finished the year by going unbeaten in eight of his last nine matches. In his rookie year, he posted eight wins in singles during the spring, primarily playing at Nos. 3 and 4 in the lineup.

Prior to Rice, Andrews attended Academia Sanchez-Casal in El Prat de Llobregat, Spain.

His highest ATP world ranking is 1553 and he was listed as high as No. 687 in the ITF Juniors rankings.

Andrews is the son of Simon and Catherine Andrews.
