@HurricaneTennis Rises Again in ITA Rankings

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – For the second week in a row, the University of Miami women’s tennis team moved up one spot in the national rankings, as announced by the ITA Tuesday afternoon.

Miami (16-5, 12-2) now sits at No. 15 in the country, the ninth time in 14 sets of rankings this season that the Hurricanes have been in the top 15. The team has been in the top 20 the entire year.

The Hurricanes once again have five players nationally ranked in singles, with Stephanie Wagner holding the top position of the group. The junior is ranked tenth, marking the seventh time in eight rankings releases that she has been in the top 10.

Freshman Sinead Lohan is ranked No. 40 in the country and she is followed by junior Clementina Riobueno, who moved up two places to No. 74.

Another freshman, Wendy Zhang, comes in at No. 110 and senior Lina Lileikite is right behind her at No. 111, rising four spots since last week.

The Hurricanes have three ranked duos in doubles, paced by Lileikite and Wagner at No. 15. The pair has been in the top 15 the entire season.

Senior Monique Albuquerque teams with Riobueno at the No. 51 spot and then Lileikite is again ranked at No. 78, this time with Zhang.

Paige Yaroshuk-Tews’ team finished the regular season in second place in the Atlantic Coast Conference and will be the No. 2 seed at the ACC Tournament in Cary, N.C. this week. The Hurricanes will play their first match Friday at 12:00 p.m. against seventh-seeded and 36th-ranked Notre Dame, 10th-seeded and 73rd-ranked Florida State or No. 15 seed Pittsburgh.
