@CanesMensTennis Falls to No. 13 Wake Forest
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Miami Hurricanes men’s tennis team was overpowered by No. 13 Wake Forest, 7-0, Friday afternoon at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The day began with doubles play, where the Canes were unable to dictate their style. Senior Henrique Tsukamoto and freshman Piotr Lomacki fell against No. 9 Skander Mansouri and Christian Seraphim, 8-2. Senior Wilfredo Gonzalez and freshman Nile Clark fell against Jon Ho and Noah Rubin, 8-2, which clinched the doubles point for the Demon Deacons.
Sophomore Bernard Tefel and freshman Christian Langmo were up 4-3 against Keivon Tabrizi and Romain Bogaerts when the match was called.
In singles action, the Canes found limited success. Freshman Clark was overpowered by Christian Seraphim falling, 6-0, 6-1. Fellow freshman Langmo could not develop a consistent rhythm against No. 13 Romain Bogaerts and fell, 6-0, 6-2.
No. 87 Lomacki fell in a tough match against No. 26 Noah Rubin, 6-2, 6-1, which secured the victory for the Demon Deacons.
Senior Gonzalez battled in the second set of his match but could not close out against No. 103 Jon Ho falling, 6-2, 6-4.
After a short rain delay, which pushed play indoors, Tsukamoto pushed his match against Skander Mansouri to a 10-point tiebreak but was unable to close out, falling, 7-6, 3-6, 10-8. Freshman Niclas Genovese fell in his match after two competitive sets against Maksim Kan, 7-5, 6-4.
The Canes will continue their ACC road trip and will now travel to Raleigh to face No. 34 NC State on Sunday, April 12 at 12 p.m.
