CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team began its 2015 season this past weekend by hosting the Miami Spring Invite.

The nine members of Hurricane roster combined to go 28-8 overall against opponents from Texas, Utah and Vanderbilt. That includes a 21-4 record in singles play.

Miami’s success on opening weekend has kept the Hurricanes in the top 15 of the ITA team rankings, released Tuesday afternoon. Miami checks in at No. 13 in the newest poll.

The Hurricanes are one of seven ACC teams ranked in the top 25, even with the SEC for the most of any conference. Miami is joined by fellow ACC schools North Carolina, Duke, Virginia, and Clemson in the top 15.

The singles and doubles rankings were not updated Tuesday, so the six Hurricanes on those lists stay in the same spots.

In singles, junior Stephanie Wagner is ranked seventh, freshman Sinead Lohan is No. 39, freshman Wendy Zhang  is ranked No. 58, junior Clementina Riobueno checks in at No. 88, and senior Lina Lileikite is tied for No. 94.

On the doubles list, Wagner and Lileikite form the nation’s eighth ranked pair, while Riobueno teams with senior Monique Albuquerque for the No. 15 spot. Lohan and Zhang are ranked No. 37.

The Hurricanes return to the court this weekend, as the University of Miami will be one of the host sites for the ITA National Indoor Kick-Off Weekend. No. 30 Florida State, North Florida and No. 52 USF will all be coming to Coral Gables for the tournament Jan. 24-25.

Miami will begin play Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. against UNF, while the Seminoles and Bulls will meet at 2:00 p.m. The losers will square off Sunday at 10:00 a.m. and then the winners will met at 2:00 p.m.
