Melissa Bolivar Earns Undergraduate Degree

Melissa Bolivar accomplished a lot in her four years at the University of Miami, but the women’s tennis standout achieved one of her greatest goals Thursday when she participated in the fall commencement exercises.

Bolivar’s graduation comes as the Barranquilla, Colombia, native completed degrees in international finance and marketing with a minor in economics.

“Meli has been an exemplary student over the course of the last four years,” women’s tennis head coach Paige-Yaroshuk-Tews said. “Great things are in her future.”

A standout on the court, Bolivar amassed 73 singles victories and won 58 doubles matches. A member of the Miami’s first ACC Championship team in 2013, Bolivar was also a key contributor to the Hurricanes’ four straight Sweet 16 appearances from 2011-2014. Bolivar also helped the Canes reach the Elite Eight in three of her four seasons in Coral Gables.

While Bolivar played her final match for the Hurricanes in the 2014 spring season, she remained around the program as an undergraduate coach this fall.
