Piotr Lomacki Ends Amazing Run in ITF Futures
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Competing for his native Poland,University of Miami freshman Piotr Lomacki ended his amazing run in the semifinals at the ITF USA F30 Futures at the Highland Park Tennis Center in Birmingham, Ala.
Lomacki, who is No. 778 in the ATP singles ranking, was drawn against the 33 year-old qualifier Julio Peralta, who is the No. 18 player in Chile. Lomacki battled but was unable to develop a rhythm against his more experienced opponent falling, 6-2, 6-2.
This is the third time in 2014 while representing Poland that Lomacki has played in the semifinals of an ITF Futures tournament. This past summer, Lomacki made his way into the semifinals of both the Poland F5 Futures and the Estonia F2 Futures.
Lomacki has also impressed this fall competing with the Canes. In his 13 collegiate matches, he has a phenomenal overall record of eight wins, with nine of his 13 matches against ITA Top 100 opponents. In those nine matches, he has won four,, and in tough three-set matches, Lomacki has compiled an impressive 5-3 record.
Lomacki and the Canes will be back in action in January when they commence the spring season. The Hurricanes will host Florida Atlantic on Jan. 18 and UCF on Jan. 19.
